Dorthea Lange essays This report is about Dorothea Lange. The main reason I choose her was because, she was a women and I thought I could probable wright better about her for that reason. Dorthea was born in 1895 and died in 1965. Dorthea's first photographic job was as a commercial portrait photographer in San Francisco in the 1920's. Her first independent work was taking pictures of native American's in the southwest with her first husband Maynard Dixon. In the early 1930 Dorthea got tired of the working in the studio so she decided to head to the streets. By this time the Great Depression was underway. She was living in California and had access to a lot of out of work people. Now she was with her second husband Paul Schuster Taylor, documenting the struggles of all the people in need . Dorthea would take the pictures of the people and Paul would write essay's to go with them. She took pictures of family's migrating west to look for job that didn't exist, she took pictures of the dust bowl and of other numerous thing's. Thing's that showed the truth of the Depression, what was really happening. During this time she took what is probably her most famous picture "Migrant Mother" this picture was a recognized symbol of the migrant life style. Her pictures showed a urgent need for government assistants in America. If you think about it, if the Great Depression would of never happened then I probably wouldn't be doing a report on Dor thea Lange because that s what really set her career off. So, I guess that would be a major event that influenced her in her work. The beginning of WW II brought her to a new turning point in photography. During the war Dorothea took very vivid pictures of the forced relocation of Japanese American citizens, they were placed in internment camps. The first child beauty pageant started in America in the 1960’s and started a major American trend. Back then, little girls were dressed up in their Sunday dress with no makeup, and no revealing clothing nothing as extravagant as children are today. Child beauty pageants are so popular here in the USA there is a reality show called â€Å"Toddlers and Tiaras.† This show shows what goes on from the start of a day to the end of the day. The show shows what contestants go through to get ready for the pageant, how they are transformed to look like little adults. They try to act older than they are and carry themselves in a way that is unbecoming of a little girl. Beauty pageants are teaching little girls that how they look on the outside and flirting is how they win in life. Beauty pageants should be restricted for children under the age of 16. Beauty pageants are too vigorous for children, and sending the wrong message as what beauty should look like. Beauty pageants have little girls as young as 4 years old spending hours preparing for a competition. They put on as much makeup as an adult would wear. They have fake eyelashes, fake teeth, spray tan, hair extensions, and some low cut outfit on, and then told to go on stage and impress the judges. If you are not a certain size and maintain that size, you are considered unattractive so many girls start obsessing about their weight at such a young age. They purposely starve themselves in order to stay at the "appropriate" weight in order to win. When contestants make poor judgments of themselves, it can lead to poor self- esteem and to eating disorders. Restricting the age requirements on beauty pageants will take the pressure off children that do not want to participate. A pe... ...p, dancing and singing and winning awards for placing higher than the other children place. Advocates say this is a way they can earn money and scholarships and for college. Is it right to teach children that beauty is solely based on what is on the outside, or should they know that beauty comes from within? For years, beauty pageants have been based on children wearing hairpieces, makeup, spray tans, and false teeth. Beauty pageants diminish self-esteem and teach children bad morals. Beauty pageants create mental and physical harm to a child throughout a pageant. Beauty pageants should be restricted for children under the age of 16; their fragile minds are not ready for the criticism that comes with the idea of being â€Å"perfect† in the judges’ mind.

Make sure the micro-influencer understands your goals from the campaign and trust them to deliver. You need to communicate your expectations without trying to control the content creation. Be transparent about what you don’t want so the influencer knows what to exclude in the content. For instance, maybe you don’t want the content to have swear words in case you want to share it on your site. Can you walk me there?† My dad laughed and said, â€Å"I will take you there.† That Saturday morning, my dad and I proceeded to San Diego streets, as I joyfully carried some old clothes of mine and some dollar coins I had earlier saved in my piggy bank. In my past years, I had always enjoyed coming to the city since my father took us to ma ny fancy places by his car. That day, my father took another path as we walked to the city. I heard my father saying, â€Å"Welcome to Downtown. I am happy that you made a wise choice to visit these people. You will learn a lot†. As we entered Downtown Street, we met a lady that had carried a child and she had sat on the cold floor with tattered clothes, looking emaciated and shivering from the cold chilly morning. They had no pullovers and next to them was a card board house that was about to crumple. The baby’s mouth had dried and it kept crying as flies were all over it. On seeing that sight, I asked my dad â€Å"Is she homeless?† My dad looked straight into my eyes as we approached them and only nodded his head in agreement. As we approached the mother, she turned to our side and I saw a grimace developing on her face, and she started to look around in her cardboard hut for a mug. She later dashed to where we were, leaving the baby on the floor as she scream ed, â€Å"Mr. Can you please spare some change. I am homeless and I have not eaten for days.† Staring at her grotesque figure and emaciated baby, I was touched with great sorrow as to what she had to undergo while being homeless. As she spoke, every word cut across my heart as I wondered, â€Å"Why God? Why her? Why this child?† My dad went calmly by her side and gave her some coins which he had. He then instructed me to donate the clothes which I had to help warm her child. I was moved by that act as I witnessed the mother turn happy (Todd 2006, p. 55). I was happy helping the needy. After a while, we continued with our journey and arrived at a homeless shelter. The conditions in the homeless shelter were messy as it was full beyond capacity. From what the patron told us, the population meant for the place was 120, but instead it housed 500 people. Some people were forced to sleep on the bare floor (Todd 2006, p. 113). From the look of things, I realized that the sani tation around that place was not good. In addition, I also saw some homeless people squabbling for food. I had never imagined people could do that. I had always watched in movies, but that was my first time witnessing such a sad moment. I was touched and realized that for many years I had been ignoring this minority group in the society. The iterative approach Most virtual groups use iterative approach where there is more connection with the team members is involved. None of the step is done in isolation or without communicating it to the other members. The feedback is being given at every step or at every finding.
